Breeding & Milling
At Ashleigh Farms, we breed our own pigs and make our own feed. Running both in-house means we control quality, health and traceability across the whole production cycle, with fewer outside inputs and fewer risks.

In-House Breeding
Our sow herd is Danish Hybrid F1, and we carry out all of our breeding in-house through selective breeding. This lets us build a healthy, robust herd suited to our system and keep tight control of biosecurity.
In partnership with Hendrix Genetics Swine, Danish Hybrid genetics help us turn strong routines into strong results, with more uniform piglets, easier daily management and consistently high standards of performance, efficiency and animal welfare.
Our Own Feed Mill
Good pork starts with good feed. That’s why we built our own modern feed mill on site. It gives us complete control over what our pigs eat, from the raw ingredients to the finished ration.
Complete control over feed quality
We choose and check every ingredient ourselves. We mill fresh, record every batch, and can trace each one from ingredient to animal.
Customised feed formulations
We make rations for every stage of life: piglets, growing pigs, finishers, and sows in gestation and lactation. Developed with specialist nutritionists, each diet gives our pigs exactly what they need for health, growth and welfare.

Powered by the Sun
A 100 kW solar array on the feed mill generates around 70 MWh of electricity a year, helping to power the mill with renewable energy and reducing our reliance on the grid.
