Ashleigh Farms, in partnership with GlasPort Bio, is delighted to announce the launch of GasAbate Complete: green energy boosting technology, an innovative project designed to serve the poultry, swine, dairy, and beef sectors.
The initiative has been selected as part of the SEAI Research, Development and Demonstration Funding Programme 2024, securing SEAI Funding. Running over 48 months, GasAbate Complete will demonstrate how GasAbate-treated slurry can transform animal manures into efficient, cost-effective feedstocks for anaerobic digestion.
This approach not only supports Ireland’s climate and energy objectives, but also enhances farm productivity and contributes to a measurable reduction in national greenhouse gas emissions.
Project Summary
Animal manure slurry is both a valuable fertiliser and a renewable energy feedstock, but long storage periods in Ireland result in major nutrient losses and significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. GlasPort Bio’s GasAbate technology tackles this by reducing GHG emissions from stored slurry up to 80% while retaining its nutrient and energy value. This ensures slurry can be more efficiently utilised in farm-based anaerobic digestion plants, helping Ireland meet binding emissions and renewable energy targets while making agriculture more competitive internationally.
